Speaking after the launch of ‘Aarohan’, a Coffee Table Book and e-book on the Income Tax Department’s progressive contribution over the decades in New Delhi today, the Union Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the economic behavior of the people of the country has changed. The program was organized to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence and “Amrit Mahotsav”.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that today the number of people who are willing to pay income tax is increasing and the credit goes to Prime Minister Modi who has taken several innovative, courageous and confident decisions like the introduction of the GST in recent years.
The Minister considered that for the country’s comprehensive and inclusive growth, its economy must develop rather than regulate it. He said that before 2014, the country for a long time witnessed a nightmare of struggle in decision-making for the people of the country, but all that has changed today.
The Union minister said there was a time when only four crore people paid income tax in the country of over 130 crore people, but expressed hope that by the 100th anniversary of India’s independence in 2047, there will be only four crores left who will not pay income. tax.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that India is a changing society but no society can evolve in isolation and that is why it is important to accompany people in every decision for their greatest benefit. He said it is Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s credibility that inspires confidence among 135 million people in the country.
The Coffee Table Book traces the journey of the Department of Income Tax over the past seven decades. It also devotes a chapter exclusively to IRS agents.
Earlier, CBDT Chairman Sangeeta Singh welcomed Dr. Jitendra Singh and gave a summary of the work of the department.
