The Income Tax Department has set up a Taxpayers’ Fair at the India International Trade Fair 2021 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from November 14-27 under the supervision of the Central Council of Direct Taxes and the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Revenue. This fair was created to make known the multiple services of the Directorate of Income Taxes offered to taxpayers and to facilitate compliance with the various income tax regulations and procedures.
CBDT said in an official announcement that “Shri JB Mohapatra, Chairman of the Central Council of Direct Taxes, New Delhi inaugurated the Taxpayers’ Lounge on 11.14.2021 in Hall No.12 in the presence of members of the Central Council of Direct Taxes, the Senior Director General of Income Tax (Administration and Taxpayer Services), the Senior Chief Income Tax Commissioner (CCA), New Delhi and other senior officials of the Department of Income Tax Income. “

According to the Income Tax Service, “The Taxpayers’ Fair aims to promote a climate of trust between the Department and taxpayers as well as to inform them of initiatives taken by the Department in recent times. Keeping this objective in mind, various activities were organized in the Taxpayers’ Fair such as: “
I. Assistance in PAN / e-PAN request, Aadhaar-PAN liaison and PAN related queries.
ii. Assistance in queries related to electronic filing and form 26AS (tax credit).
iii. Provide Taxpayer Information Series brochures on a variety of topics, available in both electronic and hard copy formats.
iv. VR game and car video game conveying the importance of paying income tax to younger visitors in an engaging way.
v. NukkadNatak, Quiz, Magic shows, live cartoons and children’s drawing / painting competitions etc. on the themes of taxation and nation-building for present and future taxpayers visiting the Show.
The Income Tax Department also clarified that “the lounge will also be used to obtain feedback on issues faced by taxpayers. The fair is therefore not only a targeted outreach program, but also a platform to showcase the Department’s service-oriented approach. “
However, taxpayers should be aware that when interacting in the taxpayer lounge, all COVID standards will be strictly adhered to.
