Income taxes are duly paid by me for AY 2018-19 but exceptional request for ₹4,560 is listed in my account on the income tax website. I never received any notice about it. Please advise me, what should I do now?
The details you provided are insufficient, but with the information available, I try to answer your question. There can be two reasons for such a request. This may be due to either a variation between the income you return and that determined by the taxman. Or it may be due to a lower tax credit being paid on your behalf.
Please check the copy of the ITR you filed. There may have been an error when submitting your ITR online, which was not obvious when you submitted it. Since this is a computerized process, the probability of there being an error in the declaration is reasonably very high that there is an error in the calculation of the part of the income tax service . You can request a notification for the tax year above which contains details of the income you have declared and as determined by the income tax service.
If there is no difference between the income you return and the income you calculated, there is a high probability that the appropriate credit for the TDS and/or withholding tax you paid will not be allowed. This can happen for various reasons. To find out the difference between the tax credit claimed by you and granted by the tax authorities, I advise you to access your form n°26AS online in order to check this aspect. I advise you to take the help of a qualified tax professional to help you solve this problem. I would even advise you to get help from a professional even for filing your income tax return (ITR).
